Irwin's Fort is the story of two outcasts that find friendship by working together to build a fort.
Irwin Fort edition by Matt Pearson John Grosvenor Children eBooks
Irwin's Fort is formatted so that you don't get lines of text on one page with the corresponding illustrations appearing on their own on another like you unfortunately do get with a lot of unformatted picture books on Kindle these days. However it is formatted to display two pages (like an open physical book) on the one screen in landscape mode (it is not possible to read in portrait). Therefore the text is pretty small. Picture books are aimed at young kids with various reading abilities, but usually not very high, so this small text would be a bit of an issue. If reading it to a child the two pages together are smaller and harder to see. They haven't enabled any feature to enlarge the text to read in a much larger font size, then return to the page when clicking out of it. The book would have been better to have been formatted in portrait mode with just one page per screen thereby making both the text and illustrations bigger. The story itself is a basic one revolving around a dragon who when he gets excited, his wings flap uncontrollably. This isn't an embarrassing situation around female dragons type parody of human school boy and the perils of puberty or anything like that. Instead the dragon's wings simply keep knocking over a fort he is building out of sticks when he imagines how good it is going to look when finished. Depressed he is encountered by a lonely skunk, who comes up with an idea that will maybe work.
